Tuesday, 22 July 2025

This session was hosted as part of the Seminar in Management course at the College of Economics and Political Science, under the guidance of Dr. Suhaila Al Hashemi, with the dedication and leadership of student Faisal Al Balushi and his remarkable team.

Bringing Poetry into Purpose

In a world where words often separate more than they unite, this seminar aimed to showcase how poetry and emotional intelligence can help build bridges of understanding across cultures, experiences, and hearts.

Through my journey as a multilingual poet, cultural bridge-builder, and voice of the heart, I shared how emotional awareness and empathy shape both my creative process and professional collaborations, and how they enrich human connection.

Session Highlights

The seminar showcased my writing story as a multilingual poet, sharing how emotional awareness and empathy shape both creative and professional connections. I read selected poems, including The Son of Desert, The Wish Bridge, and a special poem from my upcoming project, offering a glimpse into the future of my work. We reflected on how self-awareness, empathy, and authenticity foster trust and growth, and discussed setting meaningful goals, meeting challenges with resilience, and celebrating progress. The session closed with an open discussion, where students shared their reflections and aspirations — a testament to their thoughtful and inspiring presence.

A Special Honor: Book Dedication to the Library

I also had the great honor of dedicating a copy of my book, Faces from the Land of Tolerance, to the library of the College of Economics and Political Science at Sultan Qaboos University. Their gracious response expressed appreciation for this valued contribution, highlighting that adding it to the library’s collection will enrich the knowledge resources available to students, faculty, and researchers. I am deeply touched by their kind words and encouraged to continue contributing to the world of knowledge through poetry and culture.

Acknowledgements

My heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Suhaila for entrusting me with this opportunity, and to Faisal Al Balushi and his team for their excellent preparation and warm hospitality. It was deeply inspiring to meet such promising future leaders and to witness their energy and curiosity in action.

To all the students who took part: thank you for your presence, your openness, and for allowing me to share my words with you.

Together, we showed that poetry is more than art — it is a language of the heart, capable of connecting us all.
